Today is the first day of a new year and a new decade. The past decade has seen so many changes disappointments issues trauma good things bad things new friends lost friends found learning experiences and growth. What has meant the most to me the growth I think and the new friends. I sit here today in my recliner (new chair) with the Rose Bowl football game on which I really couldn’t care less about watching but the hubs wants to watch so that says it all. I seem to be relinquishing much of my wants to him in the last few years of this past decade and that has to change. My number 3 son left today to fly back to Georgia for school and his new life. I miss him but I also feel some relief that he is not here anymore. Not exposed to the tension discontent arguments confusion issues of my relationship with the hubs. He does not need that in his young life and I do not need to have him here to feel responsible for being mediator or referee to our feuds. I am trying to not cry and am doing better this time than I did in September when he left the first time. Part of my growth.
Another part of my growth includes the time that I have been without a job which has been since October of 2007. Over two years and only jobs that were either temporary based on project completion time or a companies need to have someone fill in to cover for others. I am learning to deal with it and to not feel incompetent without the daily work routine and the forty hour a week paycheck. I joined twitter at the suggestion insistence of the hubs and it was such a good direction to go. I met great people learned to like myself again started a new direction for my energy and maybe helped some others along the way. I am now Chief Researcher and Feature Column writer for www.worldasiderseeit.com productions. It is a music information website started by a very talented and special young man in Pennsylvania who took a chance on me to do research for him and then to write for him. In an age where working for someone goes hand in hand with drug testing background checks resume submissions application scrutiny and interviews galore he hired me sight unseen without any other reference that a few entries on here that I had written. AMAZING!!
Well once again I messed up post grrrr. Didn’t save after I wrote for about 20 minutes and lost it all. SAVE SAVE SAVE!!! Son is in Atlanta getting dinner which is late since it is 8:30pm there but he sounds fine. I will now try to remember what I had written before but since I am getting tired and have had a migraine all day may not be very good.
I am going to start a new business actually already have started. I got a great deal on a web server/domain plan through dreamhost for one year at $10.00. I am going to set up a web site to give some of the very talented people I have met on twitter a place to sell their creative writing. I am going to give each person their own data base and sell it by ebook and audio file. I will charge a very small amount to post the items and then another very small amount of percentage of each file they sell to maintain site. I don’t plan on making a lot of money but who knows. This is the age of ingenuity very similar to the 60′s and 70′s and I plan on taking advantage of it since in those two decades I was raising children and was not able to work or start a business. I plan on having a section for fiction – mystery, science fiction, romance (clean), children’s books, poetry of all kinds, how to do books and healthy living. All will able to be downloaded to pc’s, Iphones, PDA’s, Blackberry’s, Ipods, Kindles or any type of audio mechanism even a flash drive to carry with you to plug into a PC anywhere you are. Imagine downloading a how to fix book to a flash drive and while you are at work you break your shoe, tear your pants or skirt or blouse and all you have to do is plug the flash drive into your computer and you can find a way to fix it. Voila!! The most important purpose of my endeavor is to provide normal everyday people (women who are stay at home mom’s or those out of work) a way to make some money since unfortunately there does not seem to be any light at the end of the unemployment tunnel for a long time to come, and when the light does start to shine those who are educated and who are under 35 will be the first to get the jobs, not those who have not had the chance to go to college or who are over 35 and are still young enough to work and want to work and feel good about what they are doing.
